Morning Routines
Do you have a morning routine? Morning routines may seem daunting if you don’t have one- but picking just one or two non-negotiables to set yourself up on track for the day can really help! It doesn’t need to be 10 steps, take an hour, or even everyday! I don’t always have a clear routine but most weeks I try to stick to at least one thing in the mornings, and when it feels good, it’s easy to adapt and add on to!
I dive into some of my favorite habits and routines and more:
Water before coffee!
The health and wellness world never forgets to remind us how important hydration is, but its so true! Your body is its best-self when hydrated, and so many issues that plague us can be helped by making sure you are getting in enough water for you. I LOVE coffee, and it may be my favorite past of the morning, so I really have to make an effort to work on my water in the morning and this habit helps me. It can be room temp, warm with lemon, - just try at least half a glass before your coffee and I think you will feel a difference! This will also help your digestion, which we dive into below.
Probiotics and Supplements
Along with my water, I take my probiotic every morning! Probiotics are great to optimize your digestion alongside hydration, and I find they work best when taken consistently.
Getting outside
This is something that can vary seasonally, but there is something a bout getting fresh air in the morning, or some Vitamin D from the sun that can really reset your circadian rhythm, boost your mood and set you up for a great day! This is a habit that not everyone can do everyday, but is great to try when you can! And if you have the time, add on a short walk to start with that gentle movement- two birds with one stone.
Make Your Bed
I love to make the bed and straighten up my bedroom and personal space before I can start my day. It takes no time, and makes you feel productive and a clean space allows for clear head space! This is one part of my routine I never miss.
Movement
This is something to discuss on its own (coming soon!) and morning are not the best time for everyone, but, for those whom it is, some gentle movement or whatever feels best for your body is a great way to wake up your body and start the day!
The most important thing to remember when contemplating what you want to be in your morning routine is to start small. Pick one or two to adopt and make sure they feel good. Just like rounding out one’s diet, its important to start small, stay consistent, and tweak from there. Rather than making am overwhelming overhaul that is hard to maintain.
